: SPOILERS

:
: The dude tried to kill himself by sledding. I mean come on, how funny is that?!? And now he's stuck with his bitch of a wife forever. Like Mel Brooks said: "tragedy is when I cut my finger, comedy is when a guy walks through an open manhole cover and dies."

: You'll read way WAY worse in English classes.

Yea i did find that as one of the most ridiculous climax points i've ever read in a book. I think that Edith Wharton often confused the emotions of men and women too much. In the book there's a line where it says that Ethan wanted to rub his cheek on Matties scarf... i couldn't help but bust out laughing in class at how ridiculous that statement was. I don't think any straight guy in the history of the world ever wanted to rub there cheeks on a girls scarf or neck... I think the ending was just pointless. Out of all the books i've read in school this by far qualifies as the worst... Although i do remember reading a book called " the green planet" or something with the Green in it where they try to find another planet to live on... i didn't really pay much attention to that one but at least it was interesting.
