I've always made my movies on digital video, and once pondered whether or not I could call them "films" if they weren't shot on celluloid. I once read an interview with Robert Rodriguez where he said that he never calls his movies "films" for that reason. I know there are still a lot of filmmakers using the digital video format who refer to their work as film, but I'm wondering if that is simply because it is kind of the standard definition of movies, be they short or feature length.

Man, this digital revolution has really thrown a spanner into the works.
