Critics are like ice cream- There is generally a flavour or type for everyone. The difference between critics and ice cream is that you can generally tell what a critic really thinks by what they DON'T say.
For example- If a tabloid critic calls a film "dull", that generally refers to a film they have to intellectually engage with. If a highbrow critic calls a film trash, that normally means it was brilliant but they didn't want to admit it.
The sad fact is that most critics fall into one of two camps- The junket attending soundbites or the soiree attending cynics.
: This is why no one should ever read a review prior to seeing a movie. Critics are just art house wanna-bes. Most movies I like were panned by the critics. Fuck'em.
