my humble opinion, Comedy Central's "Chappelle's Show" is the funniest half-hour on television. It was great the first season (buy the DVD here) and somehow even better the second season, which just ended as the highest-rated original series on basic cable. Unfortunately, Dave Chappelle hasn't found the film project yet that has matched his success on TV. But New Line Cinema has signed Dave Chappelle to write and star in his first film since hitting his stride with his sketch show. Tentatively titled DAVE CHAPPELLE'S FAMILY HISTORY OF THE WORLD, the project would follow Chappelle acting as various members of his family and their fictitious participation in a number of momentous occasions in world history. Chappelle would star and write the script, possibly with "Chappelle" collaborator Neal Brennan who co-wrote HALF BAKED with the actor. Chappelle is currently in negotiations with Comedy Central for the third season of his series that should see him get a substantial pay increase. He's currently on tour with his stand-up act and is producing another series for Comedy Central, "Judge Paul Mooney" with the comedian from his sketch show providing his own type of justice a la "Judge Judy." The film could go into production this fall before a third season of the series would begin
