: : on jersey girl, i saw kevin's post that said it should have done 50 mil, and they know why it didnt, anyone have any thoughts on why it didnt? and does burton mention kevin at all on the planet of the apes commentary if there is a track by him?

: Kevin didn't say that, he was referring to Harvey Weinstein's words. And what Harvey said was he "thought it could do 50 million and [he] did NOT know why it didn't." Changes the implications of your questions slightly. As for my guess on why didn't do 50 mill. I'd say it just didn't strike the mass of movie goers as anything particularly new. That is to say: I've seen movies that tug the heartstrings with parents and their children before. I'm guessing they just lumped it into the "sentimental" category and said no thanks. But what the fuck do I know, huh?
: As for Planet of the Apes, no idea.
Sappy movies tend to do very well in the dvd purchase/rental market. Just look at the numbers a movie like Serendipity did when it came out on dvd as an example.
