THAT'S why: WB assumes you've already made up your mind to see it, so they're not selling the flick to you yet. They know folks online are aware of the flick, the cast, my involvement, and they assume (correctly) that those cats are already interested in seeing it. Even non-fans in this realm are likely to go, if only to presumably watch me fail.
So based on that, why sell to you? Or me?
That trailer is selling our flick to NON-net folks: people who had no idea this movie existed until they saw SHERLOCK HOLMES. And all the reports/data I've been sent indicates a disconnect between the movie sites and normal, once-or-twice-a-month moviegoers: normies like the trailer and are now expressing interest in seeing this flick they know nothing about, beyond that trailer. Shit, I can even see it in my Twitter feed: an overwhelming number of "love the trailer" vs. "trailer sucks" Tweets.
And that's great for me: because if they think that trailer is funny, we're literally going to make people shit themselves with the actual flick.
