I know this is probably just semantics, but you were a bit off on your description of what happened:

Dogma was originally a Miramax film, and Miramax is owned by Disney.

The Weinstein brothers (founders of Miramax) bought the film with money out of their own pocket, and then turned around and sold it to Lion's Gate.

Like I said, it's more or less semantics, and probably not even important, but Miramax did NOT sell the film directly to Lion's Gate.

As for other companies that were approached, Johnboy gave you the skinny on Artisan. I believe that Warner Bros. was mentioned at some point, but there were only a few whispers about them late in the game - at a point when it sounded like Lion's Gate would definitely handle it.
