It seems kind of simple to me, so maybe I'm wrong. Bartleby wasn't always banished to Wisconsin. He used to hang out up in Heaven. And I'll bet the Apostles are prety popular fellas, so he may not have known him, but he'd recognize him like a celebrity. And when Bartleby saw that somebody as important as the 13th Apostle was sent to stop him from going home, it pissed him off. Unless I missed something and Bartleby was banished before the Apostles came around. Then I gots no clue.

: I saw the movie at the Red Bank screening and loved it, but there were a couple minor points I was wondering about. I've since read the script that's floating around the internet, and it answered most of them, but there's one thing I'm still curious about - when Rufus and Bartleby meet for the first time in the film, they recognize each other. It makes sense for Rufus to recognize Bartleby, since he's been up in heaven and watches everything. But how does Bartleby recognize the apostle if he's been stuck in Wisonsin this whole time? Is there a story behind this, or was this just lazy, lazy writing? (sorry - bad joke)
