Like in Mallrats there's T.S. Quint (Quint the dead sea captian), and Brodie (Sheriff Brody the unwilling shark hunter). Then in Chasing Amy there's Hooper X (Hooper the oceanographer) and the whole scar comparing scene is almost directly taken from Jaws.
