Kevin,
I'm an 18 year old freshman at Berea College in KY. i feel my life here is wasting away and that college is simply some absurd pasttime keeping me from the only thing i've ever wanted to accomplish: making movies. therefore i'm leaving college after this semester and do not plan on returning. i'm basically going to go the Clerks route, working at my old computer job and gathering money like a squirrel gathers nuts awaiting winter. i'm going to save like mad, and when i've reached around $30,000 i'll begin making the movie that's been haunting me for so long (it's about my life on my high school wrestling team.) i feel the two of us have a lot in common (love for hockey, growing up on the comic book scene) and thus i respect your opinion. since you've been down this road before i was wondering if there is any advice you can give me. i realize that making a movie in the way you made Clerks and the way i plan on making mine is the most difficult approach, so any help would be greatly appreciated. for instance, where is the best place to order equipment? while i've used video cameras most of my life, i have no idea how to work an actual film camera. also, are there simpler and more effective ways to fund a movie? i realize it will take me some time to raise $30,000 but i've come to find that patience is a must when wanting to accomplish any task. if you read this then i thank you. if you didn't or never received it then i'll keep searching until i figure it out for myself. i understand that you're a busy man and have little time for things such as this, but i'm reminded of a quote, "With great power comes great responsibility." again, thank you.
excelsior, Kade Jenkins
