It's late and rain is lashing off the goddamn windows for the 18th straight day. It's nights like this when I ask myself...Why did I move to this place from New Orleans? The hub of the genteel and civilized world, if the truth be known. And it is Bubba, in all places except this one! Vancouver B.C. Canada, a gorgeous city with a miserable climate, a little like Sydney Austrailia, minus the sun, white sand beaches, decent people and good food! I just finished watching Clerks for the whateverith time, and that movie is one of the only things that keeps me from pondering my situation and this goddamn rain and impending trench foot or crotch rot....take your pic!

Sometime in this I do intend to get to the point, but first let me castigate the person or persons who e-mail the passwords which, to a person crazed with rain delerium and Wild Turkey, is almost too much to bear at such a time in this place of doom, death and mental dismemberment. As to the point of this, like I said I just watched Clerks and think that it is a film that can be actually be called a film. Not in the traditional, bull shit arty sense of the word, but as in a movie with a point and substance and dialouge....Much like Millers Crossing, the film depends on dialouge and character to drive it, which in this day and age, is incredibly hard to find. Sitting in most theatres today, I often wish to be stricken with Narcolepsy or some rare disorder that would allow me to tune out for 2 hours! Of course, they do have mescaline, but the authorities in Canada take a dim view of that sort of thing, and you can't bribe a cop like you can back home! What is this world coming to when they make shitty, beer and lifestyle, bubble gum, celophane movies and you can't bribe the cops out of some shitty misdemeanor?

I'm also a writer, i came here to write about America, I figure you have to have time and distance to see it for what it is. My opinon of it is not good, but then you read Faulkner or Hunter Thompson or Miller, or Fitzgerald, Ginsberg and Kerouac...Voices of the common people, writers of the street. I love decent film as well, but have recently turned to Europe where the films in the last few years have been fantastic...Irish, English, Scottish...Roddy Doyle, Irvine Welsh and the rest of the lot have captured surburbia in a way, never presented to an audience before. I find that movies like Mall Rats, Clerks, Suburbia, Hoop Dreams, and Adventures in baby sitting....Wait a second! Okay...well maybe not suburbia, but the rest have refocused my attention on American film and make me realize that it's all not unintelligible dialouge, shitty character development, computer graphics and explosions! So this is just to say thank you for having the balls to come out and do something meaningful, I enjoy the work and it gives me some hope that the entire industry is not blanketed by a fine and misty shit rain that makes everything stink of comprimise and arrogance. It helps to me believe that not every film maker, writer, director or producer is a cheap whore in an expensive suit, armed with weapons of servile stupidity and apathetic philosophy, lunching with swine, greed heads and lecherous toadies who are the lap dogs and ironically the power brokers of the industry. Keep up the good work, it's all in the writing, Death to the Swine...We will march on a road of bones...Passion, Creativity and Comscience my friends...Selah!
