Bartleby: heaven or hell?

Is Bartleby in heaven or hell? He did wrong and (at least sort of) renounced God. He killed and maimed a lot of people outside the church. When God shows up, he started to weep and said, "sorry." Then his head exploded and the place was cleaned up like it never happened. Is it forgive and forget?
