: I thought THE SIXTH SENSE was fantastic, easily one of the top ten of the :year. Exactly what 90% of qualities did it lack, if you don't mind me :asking-
Grah, I gotta argue with a professional film guy? If you only knew the pressure I'm under. Okay, okay, '90%' was a number pulled completely out of my ass along with some lint, but I still think the flick was lacking something special. Granted now, I haven't seen it in a good 4 months and with my memory being completely shit, I honestly can't recall all that I disliked. from memory though?:
1) it dragged on. I'm all for long movies--I'm not one of the masses who want 90 minutes of action and nothing more. ...but 6th sense? It was horrible to sit through.
2) well, this is kinda part of my first critique: when was it finally established that the kid saw dead people? 30-45 minutes in? The hype machine already established this little fact, hence the flick's attempt to make us wonder "what's wrong with this kid?" was pointless and a waste of time.
3) the mom really didn't seem to catch on to that her kid was a fucking freak, couldn't she tell that there was more than meets the eye? A touchy-feely uncle? SOMEthing?
4) it didn't leave me with anything to ponder. And no, not all movies should...but imho, an 'excellent' flick should make some attempt to do so.
:or does it only suck because it was nominated for an award and DOGMA :wasn't?
oh please do tell me where you find said assumption? I post at viewaskew, therefore I am a fanboy who thinks Kevin's flicks should all be multi-award winning? nigga please. Shame on you for using pre-philosophy 101 argument tactics. Though I do love Dogma, I don't think it *could* contend with my favorite flick of the year: American Beauty.
Anyhoo, thas all. And I'm sure you'll be able to post umpteen million reasons for why it was indeed an 'excellent' flick (and please do so). One man's garbage, I guess.
