: Man, I love Ben to pieces, but I've never seen him play a completely HARD BAD-ASS character yet. The rough, beefy, frat boy stuff he's done doesn't count. I'm just not sure I can take Ben beating people up seriously.
You know, I'd really like to see Ben as Batman. I think he's got a lot of untapped range. But I REALLY, I mean I REEEEAAAALLLYYYY have a way hard time with this whole Matt Damon-as-Robin thing. If you have a hard time think of Ben seriously beating people up, well, I would direct you to Dazed and Confused and Dogma. Supposedly he's gotten a little rough and tumble for Reindeer Games as well. But, really, Matt Damon doing a convincing kick to the chest? And doing that grunt thing that guys do when they're throwing punches? I've never seen School Ties, so I don't know what went on there, but I always got the impression that that was a bully-kick-em-when-they're-down kind of thing. Matt Damon, I think has even more range than Ben (at least we've seen more of it), but I just don't know about this. Not to mention the whole age thing. Is there supposed to be a difference in their ages? Is there a part of the Batman mythology where they are about the same age? It's been a while since I read Batman, Tim was Robin at the time I was reading it, and I've not read any of the earlier stuff or later. Help me out here! Is this just another let's-exploit-Ben'n'Matt's-relationship-for-publicity thing?
: Imagine...
: Batman runs across two rooftops, swings on a lamppost, jumps onto a moving car, slams into a purse-snatcher, and throw him into a wall.
: Batman - "Hey! You messed up my cabbage patch!"
: I'd just start giggling.
Hehehehe, that's good!
