I think they do a lot of things. In many cases they make a simple - often limited dialogue - story that follows a storyline they devise in order to create a certain mood or style that they want to experiment with.

Sure. I don't have an enormous problem with this idea. I just don't think it shows particularly sharp instincts to not be able to think of any other way.
