Oh, come now. The fact of the matter is that when a guy goes out on a date, the worst he could expect is an unfulfilling evening. The worst a woman could expect is to be raped and assaulted. Could you possibly imagine having to factor that into your day-to-day? It is not a situation of equal peril.
Am I skipping that section of the paper that reports on the rash of violence wherein women batter men? That is a non-issue, dude. Rape and battery are all too daily occurances, and out of the many of the women you know (your family, friends), you would be really surprised to find out how many had been assaulted at one point in their lives. Women don't batter men. (Or if they do, it is an anomoly, when compared to the massive numbers and instances the other way around.)
The logical analogue to your post is this: Let's say that a guy gets beaten up because he is black. Someone issues a statement condemning the attack, and blind racism and hatred.
You respond with :"I am *equally* offended by your response. Not until all discrimination, including weight based, and/or anti-protestantism is decried equally, in every instance, will there be any progress."
The point is, the statement is in direct response to a specific wrong. YOu can't expect someone to come out against whale hunting at a anti-child abuse rally. Or, quite simply and without all this verbosity: DUH.
And dude: all those "punching" posts had a really nasty, frat-boy, date-rape,lemming ugly quality to them, and I'm really glad to see them go.
