As long as women remain smaller and weaker than men (as in, forever), then women will be vulnerable. Beating a woman is bad, partly because it usually involves hitting a smaller person, and partly because women are precious as the bearers of children. Rape is the ultimate betrayal, a taking of what should be a precious gift.
Not every man, or even a large minority of them, have to be rapists in order for women to feel unsafe. It only takes a few.
After 10 years of Karate, I'm big, strong, and skilled. I can take a LOT of punishment. My fiance, however, although she is as tall as I am, has smaller bones and is weaker. I naturally would want to protect her as much as possible. Although liberal in a lot of things, I'm an unreconstructed chauvinist in that regard. And she likes me that way. It's called Chivalry, try to learn some.
