: They're angels. They must conceive paradox.
Okay, now I see where you're going with this. How about this: God forbade them from returning to heaven as angels. They were returning as humans. I realize I'm more or less contradicting myself from my other comments, but its all I got right now:)
: : : Okay, if Bartleby and Loki possessed enough free-will to defy God's Own Will...to reenter Heaven...could they not have wiped their own memories clean...
: : Thats really reaching.
: Is it?
I still think it is. I just think that seems like an oddly unnessecary ability for anyone to have.
: : : ...or at the very least, could they not have wrenched off their own wings (or tore them off one another) a lot earlier on to attain humanity (which they seem to envy...deadly a sin as envy is...)?
: : They wouldn't be the actual humans created in God's image. I could become a citizen of France, but I'd still be different. Also if they did turn into humans, they would stand good chance of going to hell, which they did not want to do.
: True, but then again, if you were to die in France, technically all that's left of you would be indeterminate from a local.
Fair enough. But I think we're wondering off the point here. I don't think becoming human would take away their memories of God, otherwise they would've transubstantiated (sp?) into human form and forgot what the hell they were doing at the church in the first place.
: : : Okay, and if they achieved mortality and died, they might've been ripe for the Inferno...but might they not also have stood a chance at re-earning their way back into Heaven as human souls?
: : Yeah, but their plan was a lot more fool proof. (or so they thought)
: I don't know, cat.
: Still sounds like they were two fools for an arrogant sucker (Azrael...not God)...
Yeah, but goodhearted fools.
