OK, just for argument's sake, I think it'd be really cool to do a stage adaptation of Clerks. Here in Austin, there are so many actors that would love to get the chance to "be a Clerk". I do agree, however, that if it's done, it should be by a small theatre group, for funky entertainment purposes only. The idea definitely does not have Broadway merit, but as far as a small production goes, COOL.
