Dogma on Dvd?

I would like to know why Dogma was released only onto DVD. If is was some lame ploy to sell DVDs i think that is unjust. I can neither afford a DVD player or $22 DVDS. I have been hassling my local movie store to start selling their previously viewed copies of Dogma. So if you only released it to DVD and tried to make a buck, my money is going to the video store. the movies are great people should be allowed to see them by any means.
