How do I clean a Banky Hat?

I have the Banky Hat and it is getting DIRTY!!! I want to clean it but last time I cleaned a baseball hat if screwed it up bad! With the birght colors of green and red i do not want the color's to run if they get wet. Also I do not want to screw the hat up. Most of the dirt on the hate is inside but the back of it does need cleaning.
Does anyone have any thoughts on a good way to clean this? A freind told me to put it in the dishwasher, i did that with a older hat and it screwed up the hat! IF anyone can help please let me know
