My $.02...

How much could Bartleby watch from Wisconsin? How long had he and Loki been there? Note also that heavenly folks don't seem to recognize each other automatically in Dogma-- for example, it takes Rufus a moment to recognize Serendipity, even though he has been in heaven "watching the living." Bethany, Silent Bob, and Jay are mortals. They weren't alive yet when Bartleby & Loki were exiled, so Bartleby couldn't recognize them. Instant recognition DOES happen when it has to in the film-- Rufus and Bartleby immediately know each other.

As to the beer-- *shrug,* you got me. Maybe Bethany was so hammered she didn't notice that Bartleby wasn't really drinking?
