: Have NONE of you read WIND IN THE WILLOWS? Kenneth
Grahame? When did the world go mad?

: Why do you people *like* Kevin's movies, and their
chockfulla-references, if they are all lost on you? STARTED AS A
RIDE AT DISNEY? That's like saying ROMEO & JULIET is based on
WEST SIDE STORY. Or some other analogy, only wittier and more
insightful.

I didn't read the last board's thread, but....

It's seems to me that when Kevin put in the Mr. Toad Wild RIde
reference... he was talking about Disneyland. While it's feasible that
Brodie was book-smart enough to have read Wind in the Willows (or
at least a comic adaptation)... it seems more in his character to
allude to a theme park ride.

Now... the ride DID gets it's name from Graham's story. But if the
viewer doesn't know this... it doesn't mean the reference was lost on
them. Personally, when I saw the film... the first thing I thought was
Disneyland ... eventhough I have read "Wind..."

that's my $.02
