: : They could go to heaven if God forgave them and allowed them back in. However if God had been in a coma and unable to intervene as He/She did at the end then they would have negated all existence by re-entering heaven. There is no rule (or dogma) that says God can't change His mind. After all God is forgiving to all who seek (in ernest) His forgivness. Sorry to get all churchy marmy on you but I just wanted it out there that it's possible, even likely that God forgave Loki and Bartleby and allowed them back in heaven.

: It was about proving God wrong. God should be infallible, and to prove her/him/it/whatever wrong would unmake existence. Their souls would have been clensed if they had went under the arch and when they died, they would have technically been forgiven (I think, anyway.. It's been many a' years since I went to a Catholic school, and I never paid attention anyway)but they STILL would have proven God wrong.
: I think they would've gone to hell. My friend sort of agrees with you though. :P
That's true it was about proving God wrong...until God came out of the coma. If they'd been able to go through with their plan they would have proven God wrong, but all God has to do is change His/Her mind about the punishment and forgive them and allow them back into heaven to stop the whole thing or to send them directly to Hell or whatever. God had the power to intervene in whatever way He/She felt neceassary. I think She decided that she'd been too hard on them and let them come back. After all he does say Thank you. At very least I think that She let Loki back into heaven.
