Jay is very much like Jason Mewes was in person at the time "Clerks" was written, according to what I've heard. And Silent Bob? Well, I think the story I heard, which may have any degree of validity from total bullshit to Bible truth, was that Kevin created Silent Bob both as a foil for Jay, and as a walk-on role for himself so that he didn't have to memorize lines in addition to everything ELSE he did on "Clerks."
Anyone else have any thoughts, corrections?
