: : since you've probably hit every part of the production process, I was just curious as to what you enjoy dealing with the most. For me, it's a close race between editing and camera setups. I also have a place in my heart for costuming. What rings your bell? Telecine? Set construction? Eating lunch? I don't know what all you've done, so enlighten me.
: Well, I've written and directed, assistant directed, edited and assistant edited, and supervised video transfers. My favorite part (or parts) have to do with post-production- I love editing and got a kick out of supervising the video transfers of A BETTER PLACE and BIG HELIUM DOG- it's just so cool to have that much control over the image- and I'm also getting more and more enamored of the whole sound post process in light of all the work we've been doing on A BETTER PLACE. It's just fascinating what you can do with somewhat shoddy production sound in a Pro-Tools system. On set, it's hard to say that I "enjoyed" directing since it was such a nerve-racking process- I really felt fried after making A BETTER PLACE, and it was only when we got down to cutting the footage that I started feeling good about what we'd done. I think given more money and a longer schedule and a professional crew, I'd enjoy it more- we'll have to see about that on my next flick. I really, REALLY loved being the Assistant Director on BIG HELIUM DOG. That's a kick-ass job that I got a kick out of doing.
