: since you've probably hit every part of the production process, I was just curious as to what you enjoy dealing with the most. For me, it's a close race between editing and camera setups. I also have a place in my heart for costuming. What rings your bell? Telecine? Set construction? Eating lunch? I don't know what all you've done, so enlighten me.
Well, I've written and directed, assistant directed, edited and assistant edited, and supervised video transfers. My favorite part (or parts) have to do with post-production- I love editing and got a kick out of supervising the video transfers of A BETTER PLACE and BIG HELIUM DOG- it's just so cool to have that much control over the image- and I'm also getting more and more enamored of the whole sound post process in light of all the work we've been doing on A BETTER PLACE. It's just fascinating what you can do with somewhat shoddy production sound in a Pro-Tools system. On set, it's hard to say that I "enjoyed" directing since it was such a nerve-racking process- I really felt fried after making A BETTER PLACE, and it was only when we got down to cutting the footage that I started feeling good about what we'd done. I think given more money and a longer schedule and a professional crew, I'd enjoy it more- we'll have to see about that on my next flick. I really, REALLY loved being the Assistant Director on BIG HELIUM DOG. That's a kick-ass job that I got a kick out of doing.
