It was written in the late 80's by Sam Hamm. He wrote BATMAN and some people say that he. And it was in the hands of producer Joel Silver and Terry Gilliam was originally supposed to have directed it. But the budget was the big reason the plug was pulled. The joke was that the budget was 1 million dollars A PAGE!!!! It was, like, 120 million dollars. Incomprehensible in 80's standards. So they let it collect dustballs, the rights are now in the hands of the producer of MYSTERY MEN and Gilliam has left the project. But now that X-MEN has proved that intricate comic books can be succesful writing wise and box office wise, and with SPIDERMAN being ready to hit the screen, It'll only time before a director with guts and integrity picks up the project, dusts it off, and brings it to screen. And it will be quite a shock to the audience. Seeing this complete deconstruction of the superero genre.
