Bartleby cannot get drunk, he does not get drunk, once again we turn to the
summaries for answers:
--------------------------
If angels can’t drink, how does Bartleby drink with Bethany on the train?
He doesn’t. Even though it never shows him actually drinking, many people
assumed that he did. In fact, the script indicates otherwise: "Bethany and
Bartleby slump in their booth, the table loaded with empty glasses. Bethany
is quite tipsy. Bartleby hasn’t touched his booze."
---------------------------
But I don't think it ever covered angerls getting high. Must've not been a
problem in the early days.
As for anything you read from the IMDb, it has gotten to big for its own
good. Sometimes the stuff's right, sometimes wrong, other times completely
missing. I've learned to ignore the mistakes, there's a couple I've tried
to fix or add, but go nowhere.
I think Bartleby did not pick up on Bethany because he was somewhat
preoccupied with his current mission, and he had no reason to. Or maybe as
the Last Scion, she had some Jesus powers that protected her. Who knows?
Hope this helped.
Scott.
-Jebus! Where are you Jebus?-
: Has anyone read the Goofs for Dogma on the IMDB? One "Incorrectly
regarded as a goof:" states "Bartleby is what Metatron calls a watcher,
which means he knows what sins people have committed, and we see him
exercise this throughout the film but on the train when Bethany is talking
to him, only at the end of the conversation when she start explaining her
mission does he realize who she was. This makes some sense, since he was
both drunk and high, he was not explicitly looking for her sins, and in any
case, the plot she's part of hadn't yet become a sin (if, indeed it ever
did)."
: However, isn't it true that Bartleby CAN'T get drunk or high? Metatron
said that Angels were banned from drinking because of Loki and Bartelby.
However, even though they are exiled, Loki and Bartleby are still Angels
and have to follow God's decree. I assume pot gets lumped in there too as
Loki "fakes" taking a hit of the joint Jay hands him. Either that or it
was poor acting on Matt's part. Which I do
