: And a word of warning to any would-be projectionists: DON'T DO IT!!! You will never enjot another movie again. You start noticing every single little imperfection in the presentation. Reel changes, scratches, digital sound drop-outs, misframing, ghosting, screwed up eccentrics, and 5,000 other things.
being a projectionist myself, i also notice all this, and it drives me crazy. i can't even go to another theater anymore. everyone at my theater knows how to frame and get the sound right. i hate going somewhere and having to sit through poor framing and poor sound quality. and of course nobody else in the theater will get up to say anything, so i'm always the one who has to get up and tell the brain dead usher to change the lens or turn the sound up. and the usher always gives me that "i have no idea what you're talking about" look. i must agree that being a projectionist isn't worth anything but trouble.
