: In Clerks they have a conversation about which movie they like better, Empire or Jedi, and then they debate whether or not the innocent contractors on the second death star deserve to die. They spent at least five to ten minutes of the movie blatantly discussing Star Wars movies. There was absolutely nothing subtle about it.
Not subtle in terms of being in the movie, but subtle in that every time it is mentioned in the movies (with the exception of Mallrats using the Jedi Mind Trick) it is included in as casual conversation. Something that "came up" between friends, or in Chasing Amy, as part of the race issue. To copy the title is significantly more blatant.
Read Vincent's reply, because he understood what I meant, and his answer explaining the transformation from verbal to visual humor explains the change perfectly. Calling it Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back is not verbal humor up to Kevin Smith's standard. However, if he is going for a more visual movie, it will do. Personally, I love his verbal humor, so maybe I'll be disappointed with this one? Then again, I like everything he has done so far, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and let him entertain in the way that he sees fit. That is why he does that, and I do my job...
