: :Pissing contests and bitchslapping make life worth living. I can see where you might be unfamiliar with the finer points of pissing contests (do ladies have their own version of this playful activity? Instead of distance, do they judge by force?), but bitchslapping must come easy to someone with such a mighty vocabulary
Pissing contests and bitchslapping only make life worth living to the terminally stupid and boring. Sure the on-topic restriction limit's what I'm sure is your expansive ability to speak on all subjects with encyclopedic recall. But if pissing and slapping is your idea of fun, then I'm surprised you haven't stuck the fork in your eye while trying to eat.
: : Comparing what I've read in both fora, I'd dare say that the breadth of knowledge and overall perspicuity there is several steps above anything I've read here in ages.
: I guess "forums" was beneath you, so you had to go with the fancier "fora," huh? Since when did baby talk begin passing for "breadth of knowledge and overall perspicuity"? Because that's all I ever saw on the OWB. Baby talk and Drunken Hal's crazy shit.
And it speaks volumes about you that you consider having a decent vocabulary to be the sign of childishness. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the lowest common denominator. You're one of those anti-intellectual Bush morons, aren't you?
:
: :I think that comes from the freedom to discuss subjects outside the regular VA minutiae. They're smart, well-expressed, and often very funny.
: I beg to differ. Especially regarding the latter point, unless, of course, you find Drunken Hal's crazy shit funny. I never have. It's interesting the way case histories of mental patients are interesting, but never remotely funny.
Considering what you do consider funny, then it doesn't surprise me that humor above the visceral level is beyond you.
: :With few exceptions, they're respectful of one another and supportive of each other's efforts. It's become a community all its own, irrespective of it's VA association. I think that fact alone merits its salvage.
: And what would their "efforts" be? To waste time?
Maybe I should count some off.
1) A non-sponsored VA event where a group of us drove from all over the midwest to camp and drink and bullshit.
2) The people who actually found love there.
3) The wedding that was open to everyone.
4) The countless times one of us had a problem or something wonderful happened and we were all around to support/congratulate them.
5) Two of our regulars just had kids.
Should I go on, or do you get it yet?
: : The best part:
: : Most of the regular posters on the OWB realize that "sweaty palmed fan boy" is derogatory.
: As opposed to what? "OWB regular"?
We never really thought of ourselves as OWB regulars. Just a bunch of friends.
: : I don't foresee posting here in lieu of the OWB. It's the wrong format and a different crowd. I'll be sorry to see it go.
: Don't take it so hard. The internet has plenty of places for people overflowing with perspicuity like you.
And apparently it has a place for the crude idiots.
