on what u plan to do with the film...

: First off I'm new here, hello.
: I've been making crappy little home movies my entire life,

Yea...same here, except mine can't legally be seen by anyone over 18.

I have like a 6 foot stack of VHS tapes at my parents house.

Same here!

: Anyway, me and my friend are in the middle of storyboarding a film we plan to make.

CooL!

: The only problem is, all i have is a little sony digital8 cam and were using a crappy 50$ mic from radioshack tied to a hockey stick for sound.

Better than a VHS camcorder using only the mic attached to it!

: No I'm not a freeloader looking for equipment.

I am! anyone who want's to send me free film or video equipment email me now!

: I'm just wondering if everyone starts this cheap on there first film, or if I should put it off untill I get better stuff together. Any opinions?

Like I said at the top, depends on what u plan to do with the flick... If you wanna try to send it to film festivals and shit I would save up for 16mm (you can get them pretty cheap at E-Bay) and just rent a cheap production package for sound a light... But if you want to do the flick just to show to your buds and shit, and don't really plan on getting big with the pic, then shoot on your Digital8. Anyway just my worthless scum bag shit filled opinion.

: Thanks-

No Problem-
