: First of all, let me state a few things - It's not 'smart funny', nor is it clever. In fact, the commercials made me cringe. But, I found myself at the theater over the weekend w/ nothing to watch, so I thought I'd check it
out.
I saw the movie too.
: Let's see...How to describe it? This movie is TOTAL nonsense humor. VERY funny, as long as you dig things that happen for no apparent reason.
Not exactly true. The movie jumps around from one event to another to keep up with the ever-decreasing attention span of it' target audience.
: It's like a movie I would make w/ my friends if we had a big enough budget.
I assume that you and your friends are as smart as a 15-year-old and are stoned whenever you're not sleeping.
: For those of you who aren't exactly familiar w/ what nonsense humor IS, here are some examples - Spaceghost Coast to Coast, SOME of Kids in the Hall, Sifl and Olly, and the movie Skitzopolis. These are all fine examples.
No they are not fine examples. Space Ghost is funny because it's clever (different kind of clever than the normal definition), KitH is just fucking hilarious, and Sifl and Olly is just an okay example. This movie is just funny to laugh at....like the movies on MST3K (That show was fucking hilarious, too)
: Try to keep in mind, though, that this is a mainstream movie, so it's not on par w/ other staples of nonsense humor, but I've never laughed at a movie harder in my life. Just thought I'd
...go jump off a bridge and do us all a favor? Just kidding, but if this movie is the funniest one you've seen, then you need to see more movies.
It was really stupid and the only thing it's good for is to boost the ego of an aspiring writer. After watching "Dude, Where's My Car?" I went home and read the script I've been working on for 3 months (that I stopped working on because I didn't like it) and had a newfound appreciation and thought "If 'Dude, Where's My Car?' can get made, then this definitely has a chance!".
