There are many musicians and groups that support things like Napster and the sort. Many of them would probably not have a problem with you using thier music, but it would be best to contact them first. One thing you could try, is cutting them in on a small part of the profit if you happen to make some cash. If you don't make anything off the flick, then you wouldn't have to come up with the cash, because thier payment will depend on the financial (not the actual) success of the film.

: Like a bunch of folk on this board, I'd like to put together a movie of some sort. My question is about the soundtrack. Lets say that I find a piece of music that's appropriate to my story. How would I go about using that track if I don't have alot of funds to pay for music usage?
