Film question for Kevin or whomever: Soundtrack

Like a bunch of folk on this board, I'd like to put together a movie of some sort. My question is about the soundtrack. Lets say that I find a piece of music that's appropriate to my story. How would I go about using that track if I don't have alot of funds to pay for music usage?
