This question is for anyone who bothers to read it.
What's the point? I mean, you have here a talented director, a talented cast, a talented crew, but the movies don't mean anything. They're just reflections of the old generation x angst, keeping the old Narcissus situation alive; no matter how beautiful these movies are, eventually they fade away from a malnutrition of meaning because they are too enamored of their own existance.
I am not putting them down, or putting Mr. Smith or the crew or cast down; their movies are some of the best I have ever seen. All I am saying is that there doesn't seem to be anything but a movie made just for the movie's sake; Dogma came close to being something more, but it wasn't. It was a hilarious comedy, but there was no deeper meaning to it. No real depth.
I believe that Mr. Smith and company are capaple of creating movies that are both accurate reflections of the soul, and have a deeper meaning. Movies that make you think and re-evaluate your own existance and the choices you have made in your life.
I hope that, in the odd chance someone actually reads this, I haven't offended anyone; it would just be nice to see a talented director, cast, and crew do something truly worthy of their talents.
