You've forced me to post and waste valuable board space...
: 2) If the script makes several references to itself (i.e. if characters mention that their lives would make a crappy movie, or characters point out that they are in a movie by winking at the camera), it may suck.
: I would like to bring to light that Ferris Bueller's Day Off (one of the greatest movies ever made) makes numerous references to itself being a movie i.e. he talks to the camera on several accounts and at the end he says that the movie is over and tells the audience to go home (after the credits if you've yet to see it)
Two things: One, in FBDO Ferris is not only a character, but a narrator of sorts. The things he does are things a narrator would normally point out, in this case he's the narrator. Besides, I said "MAY suck", if it's done well it can be clever....your script was not clever.
: In addition to these points I bring up again the fact that you mentioned..
:
: 1) If the script makes multiple, lame, and/or blatant references to one or a series of movies (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Kevin Smith Movies), it may not be very good.
: Not only does Kevin refer to Star wars on many different accounts but also the John Hughes flicks (mainly in Dogma).
First, Kevin also makes subtle references to things that require more than a Junior High education. In Chasing Amy, he references Waiting for Godogh (sp?), not just with Holden's character amalgamation of Bluntman & Chronic, but with the theme of the movie. Something someone like you isn't likely to pick up on, however you will notice the not-so-subtle Catcher in the Rye...or did you miss that too? Also, I said "MULTIPLE, LAME AND/OR BLATANT" Kevin's movies make clever/funny and never lame or blatant references to movies. Luckily, I've blocked most of the shit from your script from my memory so I can't remember some of the drivel that spewed from the heads of you and your two friends. How many times did you reference "37"?
Look, if you're going to defend your sophomoric script, you should come up with argument where you cite positive examples from your movie. And don't use phrases out of context. It may work when talking, but not when the original words are right above your bullshit.
"Therfore, for you not to like our movie based on these three factors you have at the same time stated that you don't like said films which also "break" these so called rules. I rest my case."
You rest your case? Does that mean you'll shut your ass up? Good. Now, let's break down your final statement:
Therfore, for you not to like our movie based on these three factors
Not true. I didn't like your movie because it was not funny, unoriginal, far from clever, and too obsessed with referencing pop culture and Kevin Smith movies to concentrate on a decent plot.
you have at the same time stated that you don't like said films which also "break" these so called rules
Also not true. I used words like MAY, MIGHT, and COULD. A good writer (with a college education) can make a movie that does nothing but reference pop culture and other movies and make it at least watchable. You three are not good writers with a college education. Like I said, if you're gonna defend your movie do some research so you don't come off as such a jackass
