And I'm not discounting the stand-outs in the field. They are just not my cuppa. But for the most part, I find those type of comics uninteresting, and sometimes just depressingly bad.
It's just the way I'm bent. Gimme a guy with powers, or a keen belt with gadgets anytime. I enjoyed the hell out of Moore's 1963, both as a parody, and for the fun they actually were.
Also a big fan of TOM STRONG. See? I'm all about cheesy heroes, and "deconstructionist" views of cheesy heroes.
I loved ASTRO CITY, too; same reason. Guns, drugs, guys in wife-beater Ts? Not my kinda comics.
