This message is intended to go straight to the top (or the bottom,
depending on how you look at things). I've recently become aware of
Mr. Smith's badmouthing of Paul Thomas Anderson, and more
specifically 'Magnolia'. From what I understand Keven doesn't like the
film, which is totally within his rights as a film viewer. I can respect
his opinion. What I can't respect is this "inside joke badmouthing".
Just because one is in a position where he has a public voice
doesn't give him the right to attack someone else. Especially when
the someone else who is being attacked has taken craps with more
talent than the person doing the attacking. Kevin, I haven't seen all of
your films, but I have seen a few, and from what I've seen you are the
most mediocre filmmaker of the past 15 years. For you to criticize a
filmmaker like PTA is a completely laughable matter. Please do me,
and yourself a favor and go back to film school and make some more
black and white movies about guys hanging out and talking about
how many dicks their girlfriend has sucked. Leave the serious
filmmaking to artists like PTA.
