I sent three huge boxes full of the Betacam-SP master tapes of the DOGMA dailes to the folks putting together the DVD- they were supposed to use those tapes and an AVID Edit Decision List to do an on-line edit of the deleted scenes with no digital compression from Betacam-SP to Betacam-SP- if they had been done that way, the deleted scenes would have looked the same as the "outtakes" reel on the DVD, which WAS done that way.
I ALSO sent them Betacam-SP tapes of the deleted scenes outputted from an AVID which was supposed to be used JUST AS A GUIDE TAPE. What seems to have happened is, the powers-that-be decided NOT to do the on-line re-edit that they told me they were gonna do, and they just used those heavily digitally compressed AVID output tapes when putting together the DVD deleted scenes. I only found out about it when started reading reviews of the DVD and everybody said the deleted scenes looked shoddy (I still haven't seen the DVD myself).

: Those deleted scenes on the DVD are great but what happened to the transfer quality? It looks like it was digitized off a four-year-old noisy VHS tape and as a result it's blocky as f*ck. Did VA lose the film version or something?
