I've heard otherwise recently. Douglas Adams was still working on it right up to before he died, the producer (forget his name & don't have time to look it up) is happy with the script and wants to go ahead with it. It's not a dead project but there's still some work to do (though not on the screenplay) before it gets coompletely off the ground.
