I appologize for throwing my two cents into a great thread. HUGE props to Dobbin: You expressed perfectly the experience of being in a soulfully connected, intense, passsionate long term love affair. GOD I hopes she never notices that I'm a dork -a dork who has a certified "bitter, fierce, cynical experienced woman" to wake up next to every morning. (YES!!)

There are not many guys around who are emotionally aware of themselves, and willing to be who they really are. I am not talking about "sensitive" guys, I'm talking about having the courage and strength to look past trying to impress their friends and trying to prove to their internal fathers that they're "good boys". Women had a revolution in this country to prove they could do anything, and they didn't have to conform to "old roles" anymore. Maybe it's time for men to let go of THEIR old roles, too.

I am NOT saying become sniveling pansy-boys or oversensitive self-loathing wo-Men. There are NEW options that we can create- neither distant, absentee humans that avoid anything that smacks of emotion, nor weenie insense-burning, chinese chicken salad eating Poofs. Becoming somthing new, masculine and powerful- Child-like but not childish, Scoundrels but not abusive asses. Kind of the same way that women have gone from Donna Reed to ...well any damn thing they want to be.
