: To me, it seems as though the reason he goes nuts on the "other " David is due to finding that he is indeed NOT a beautiful and unique snowflake. Taking this the next logical step: when there was evidence of a compitition between Martin and David ( I.E. the Spinach)why would he NOT then react the same to Martin?
He goes nuts on the "other" David, because he wants to be unique and special to gain Monica's love. I guess David realizes that by intentionally hurting Martin like that it would shun him away from Monica's love.

: I really will not go into the unbelieveable idea that by eating, an android will damage himself. Why then is it possible for him to be underwater and speak??
: UGH.
Now that I am not to sure on, but I can overlook that, cause I didnt create the robot and I dont know much about his circuits etc. But I am gonna assume they are waterproof.
: As I said earlier: Jude Law was not needed. Taking the PHANTOM EDIT way of looking at things. Imagine the movie without him. DAVID alone in the woods. He gets from point A to point B much the same way then.
Jude Law's character led David to Rouge City and Dr. Know. Without him DAvid would be wandering aimlessly around looking for the blue fairy.
: Sorry but I cannot believe that the FLESH FAIR would be conducted in such a manner. And given Brenden Gleeson's speech about "Artificiality" and how the newest affront to God is the replication of a human boy............well I feel DAVID begging for his life would indeed incite the ( already rabid by all accounts) crowd to further violence.
I dont see where you are to say how the future would conduct such entertainment. I took the "Flesh Fair" as sort of a low brow form of entertainment. It wasn't like everyone was going to it, more like trailer trash and such, it is like the NASCAR and Pro-wrestling of today. Kind of like a hi tech form of Battlebots, get it?
Who knows maybe the crowd just wasnt sick enough to watch a young boy mecha or not melt away while pleading for his life.
: The RULES OF ROBOTICS say that first 'Do no harm to Humans" Why drag Martin into the pool? Why does he not understand the need to breath? the second rule is " Do no harm to thy self". Why the eating episode?
: Again I see the FLESH FAIR as flouting the rules as well.
Well the RULES of ROBOTICS, I dont know much about those, but is it truely written in stone? I have seen movies where artificial lifeforms harm humans so I guess not every movie closely follows them.
: But thats for another night. It's late and I have enjoyed the discussion.
: Thank you all for responding so quickly and intelligently.
: Snootch.
