To me, it seems as though the reason he goes nuts on the "other " David is due to finding that he is indeed NOT a beautiful and unique snowflake. Taking this the next logical step: when there was evidence of a compitition between Martin and David ( I.E. the Spinach)why would he NOT then react the same to Martin?
I really will not go into the unbelieveable idea that by eating, an android will damage himself. Why then is it possible for him to be underwater and speak??
UGH.
On another point brought up in another thread: I seriously feel that FIGHT CLUB delt with the idea of GOD and how MAN seems Him/Her FAR better than this movie.
As I said earlier: Jude Law was not needed. Taking the PHANTOM EDIT way of looking at things. Imagine the movie without him. DAVID alone in the woods. He gets from point A to point B much the same way then.
Sorry but I cannot believe that the FLESH FAIR would be conducted in such a manner. And given Brenden Gleeson's speech about "Artificiality" and how the newest affront to God is the replication of a human boy............well I feel DAVID begging for his life would indeed incite the ( already rabid by all accounts) crowd to further violence.
The RULES OF ROBOTICS say that first 'Do no harm to Humans" Why drag Martin into the pool? Why does he not understand the need to breath? the second rule is " Do no harm to thy self". Why the eating episode?
Again I see the FLESH FAIR as flouting the rules as well.
But thats for another night. It's late and I have enjoyed the discussion.
Thank you all for responding so quickly and intelligently.
Snootch.
