I haven't seen the ending, but if it IS the direct rip off its made out to be, consider this:
Burton didn't write the script. Burton didn't design every single element of the movie. They got art guys and stuff. What if, Joe Shmoe the art designer ripped off the comic? Or the writer? And being not that many people have read J&SB#3, no one noticed it was ripped off.
Everyone gives directors WAY to much credit. Yes, Ed Wood was a great movie, but did Tim Burton write it?
Not that I'm dissing him, he's a good director, when he has a good script.
