: What I was trying to do was figure out what version of the film I had.
You have a *STOLEN* version. How old are you anyway?
: I have seend the movie 4 times and own the soundtrack. I don't think I am stealing anythin because It isn't the same version of the movie.
OKAY: suppose I steal your car and paint it a different color. Now it's a "different version". So I didn't steal your car, and you have no right to be pissed at me, correct? Or do you finally get it when the tables are turned??
: I have not made it available to anyone, but it is being shared on Morpheus or Kazaa. I was actually asking for an answer about the soundtrack. There is no URL.
Okay, let's try this again. You say it's being "shared" i.e. passed around illegally "... on Morpheus or Kazaa." Well, these are obviously websites, and websites have URLs. Furthermore the film itself is stored as a file, and the file has a URL. So, WHAT"S THE URL, Hamburglar??
: I am not trying to cheat kevin or viewaskew, and I don't believe I have.
YOU HAVE. Here's why:
Regardless of how many times you paid to see the movie, or if you bought the soundtrack, the fact remains that Kevin did not authorize the movie to be downloaded, and he receieves no money from it. Thus it is stolen, and even if you did not steal it directly from Kevin, you still obtained the copy you possess without his permission. Now, when you take someone's property without his permission, that's *STEALING* isn't it?
: If I am wrong correct me please. Don't tell me I am stealing with having no idea what you are talking about.
If you have no idea what I am talking about you are a fucking *RETARD* who should not be allowed out of his cage. That's no exaggeration, I'm serious. People who don't know what stealing is present a danger to others and should be locked up.
Do you *HONESTLY* not know what stealing is!?!?!?!
HERE'S A BETTER EXAMPLE: you said you didn't want to wait for the DVD, right? Well, lots of people don't, but they have to because *THIS MOVIE DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM, IT BELONGS TO KEVIN SMITH* and it's up to him to decide when to release it. Now that you have it for free, are you going to buy the DVD? Hell no! Why would you? And that's the same way most people look at it. They'd rather steal something than pay for it, as long as they don't face any personal risk. You are not only a thief, you're a coward.
Each stolen copy of this movie equals one legitimate DVD that will not be sold, and therefore Kevin will get nothing from it. Thus you have taken the money you would have spent, money which is rightfully his, if you're going to obtain a copy of the movie, and stolen it right out of his pocket.
AN EVEN BETTER EXAMPLE: STAR WARS. George Lucas has not released the first three Star Wars films on DVD and will not until 2006 or so. Lots of fans (including me) are pissed. Some have said we have the right to bootleg it because Lucas is "cheating" us. Not true. Whether we like it or not, those films are his property and he can keep them locked up forever if he wants to. That's his right. Bootlegging Star Wars is wrong. Period.
If you have any ethics you will send Kevin $50 or however much he wants as payment for the film on your computer. But you have no ethics and no clue about how to develop them, so oh well. You're still a scumbag, and a clueless scumbag to boot (pun intended).
BTW I am totally against turning people into the cops for any reason, but if I wasn't I'd send your personal information straight to the FBI.
