Programs like Direct Connect, Kazaa, Morpheous and even Old School's Napster are peer-to-peer file trading. That is to say, I have the file on my hard drive, and you download it directly from me, not from a website's server. These files themselves don't have proper URLs. The file trading programs do have web site represintation, but they do not advertise or advocate file sharing of copywrited materials. (Wink wink.)
I myself have no downloaded J&SBSB, simply because I haven't looked for it. I've seen the film in the theaters three times, and will probably see it again (The way it should be seen.) However, here's an example. I was a big fan of the Guy Richie film 'Snach,' but the thing took the longest time to be relased on DVD here in the states, so I downloaded a crappy little version with a temp music track (Snatch's real soundtrack is excellent), poor video quality, and the whole time there are two lines of text that say 'For use by Such-and-such group for Trailer use' or something to that effect. I watched this file frequently until I was able to purchase the film in a proper format, including DVD-quality audio and video, a director's commentary, and a great second disk filled with lots of behind the scenes extras.
Now, does this mean I advocate people download Kevin's movies? Hell no. I've bought every single Kevin movie from the stash, complete with Kevin's autograph (A great feature of the stash.) However, we're fans. We're internet geeks. If we see someone has made ready a version of J&SBSB for home use, I say download it. For heaven sake, don't pay for it. Don't take money away from Kevin. However, don't berate someone for being a fan, and wanting to watch Kevin's movies, and don't shoot the messenger. As long as nobody's making money, there is very little (I say little because there still exists some) harm.
