: - I only wish Anchor Bay had released it with the Italian-language soundtrack with English subtitles as well as the English language soundtrack because the dubbing of the kids distracts me. It's a very disturbing, powerful film but the dubbing of the kids cheapens it somewhat.
: THE CAT O' NINE TAILS is probably the least of Argento's "animal" trilogy but it has several great sequences and a terrific performance by Karl Malden as the blind protagonist.
: INFERNO is my all-time favorite Argento film. All non-linear nightmare logic and style, this film is like taking a walking tour of a baroque and strangely beautiful Hell. It's at once a quieter film than SUSPIRIA and at the same time more relentless as it dispenses with any real surface "plot" at all and just lets all Hell break loose. A simply brilliant example of pure cinema.
: PHENOMENA is good but overlong, again has many great moments and of course National Treasure Jennifer Connelly. It's amazing how little she's aged in the past 17 years.
: DEEP RED is of course considered to be Argento's "masterpiece" by most, although I prefer TENEBRAE and INFERNO. It is a great film, but is too long in it's 126-minute Italian version (released with a composite English/Italian soundtrack by Anchor Bay). while the longest English-language only version (105-minutes, released on Japanese laserdisc way-back-when under the hilarious title SUSPIRIA PART 2) omits what I consider at least to be some important plot footage.

: : have you seen cat o' nine tails or Don't Torture a Duckling?
: : Inferno? Phenomena? Deep Red?
Vincent- thanks for the insight. How about OPERA and SUSPIRIA? STENDHAL SYNDROME?
