That's precisely what I was saying. Granted, blind faith kind of falls in line with this (i.e., "God has a plan for you" and the like), and it does seem like sort of a convenient solution, but it works if you think about it.
Of course, on the other hand, you can just explain it by saying that two hours of dead air would make a pretty crappy movie, and as such, all the events depicted had to 'happen'.
